How to choose an AI model

  • Price a finished task, not a token

A cheaper model that needs more attempts or longer reasoning can cost more per result. Compare input and output prices with your real prompt sizes.

  • Match the model to the job

Long coding sessions, document analysis and quick classification suit different models. Check context size, reasoning settings and tool support.

  • Check where it is available

Some models are only in the API, others only in certain app plans. Confirm the access you need before you build around one.
