What is deAPI?
deAPI is a hosted inference API that runs AI models for images, video, speech, music, transcription, OCR and embeddings, so developers can add them to an application without managing GPUs. It suits a prototype that turns a script into narration or a brief into a draft image. Billing is prepaid and usage-based, and model support and account limits vary by endpoint.
What can you build with deAPI?
With deAPI, your application sends a request and the platform runs the selected model. That makes it worth considering when your product needs several media operations and you want to avoid setting up GPU servers for each one.
A useful example is a small content-production application that turns an approved script into spoken narration and generates accompanying visual concepts. Those are separate steps with separate outputs to inspect. deAPI supplies the model execution; your application still needs to handle the brief, file storage, user feedback and approval.
Start with one measurable API workflow
Begin with one representative task, such as generating a draft illustration from a short brief. Pick a supported model, check its accepted dimensions and parameters, estimate the request price, and make a small test. Inspect the actual image for the details your use case needs before connecting that step to a larger workflow. This is a suggested evaluation, not a test result from this overview.
Create an inference key for the application and give it a spending cap and expiry appropriate to the trial. Keep the account-management key separate. If your infrastructure requires IP-restricted keys, use the native API: deAPI explicitly documents that such restrictions are incompatible with its OpenAI-compatible endpoint.
How pricing and access work
deAPI uses a prepaid balance rather than a required monthly subscription. Its current public pricing offers introductory credits for new accounts. Billing varies by operation: image parameters, speech length, video duration and other task-specific inputs can affect the charge. The matching price endpoint lets you estimate a request before submitting it.
Budget for the complete workflow, including alternatives you reject and any regeneration your users request. New accounts start on a Basic tier with low rate limits intended for testing, and a first top-up upgrades them to Premium limits, so check the current model list and limits before designing around a particular endpoint. A compatible SDK interface can reduce integration work, but it is not evidence that every operation or option in another provider's API is supported here.
What stands out
- Hosted models for images, video, speech, music, OCR and embeddings
- Native API plus an OpenAI-compatible endpoint for supported operations
- Task-specific price estimates before submitting an inference job
- API keys with optional expiry, spending caps and IP restrictions
Before you choose
- Model support, inputs and account limits differ by endpoint; check the selected model's documentation.
- The OpenAI-compatible endpoint does not support keys with an IP allowlist; the native API does.
- A successful API response does not establish output quality or clear the rights in your input material.
