What is Claude Design?
Claude Design is Anthropic's design feature in Claude that builds a first version of a visual from a description, such as a mockup, one-pager or slide, which you then refine on a canvas. It works in any Claude conversation, including Claude Code, and is included on every plan, Free among them. It can build with your own design system imported from GitHub or design files.
What can you do with it?
Anthropic's examples are mockups that turn a rough idea into a clickable flow before anyone writes a spec, one-pagers made from a sales proposal, and campaign assets. You describe what you need, Claude builds a first version, and you adjust it with comments, direct text edits, sliders Claude creates for spacing and colour, and layout controls.
For teams, Claude can build with real components: import one or more design systems from a GitHub repository, design files or uploads, and Claude checks its output against them before showing it. Admins can lock a team to a single approved system. From Claude Code you can use /design to create or edit designs and /design-sync to pull a design system in.
Try it on a small task
Suggested workflow: in a Claude conversation, describe a one-page product sheet for something you sell, with the headline, three benefits, a price and a call to action, and attach your logo. Ask for a first version.
Comment on two elements you want changed, edit one line of text directly, then export to PDF and PowerPoint. Check that the text, prices and colours match what you specified and that the PowerPoint file opens with editable text. Every artifact gets a link that stays private until you share it.
Pricing and access
Anthropic says Claude Design, Claude Slides and Claude Docs are included on every plan, including Free, and the Claude pricing page lists Claude Design on Free, Pro, Max 5x and Max 20x. Pro costs $20 a month billed monthly or $17 a month billed annually, and Max starts at $100. Work in Claude Design counts toward your plan's usage limits, and a full design uses more than a typical message.
Claude Design now works inside any Claude conversation. The former standalone site at claude.ai/design stays open until December 14, 2026. In Enterprise organizations it turned on by default on October 15, 2026, except in HIPAA-enabled organizations, and admins manage it in Organization settings under Artifacts. You can import DOCX, PPTX and XLSX files or a codebase.
