Which fits your task?
Claude focuses on writing, analysis, documents and code, with Claude Code in every paid plan. Gemini covers a wider media range, including image, video and music generation, and is bundled with Google's apps and storage.
What we compared
We compared the individual plans for writing, research, documents and coding: the free plan, the models each tier unlocks, what paid tiers add and the price ladder.
This comparison is based on the official pricing pages checked on October 24, 2026. AppFor.ai has not run both assistants on the same test set, so there are no scores or winner from our own testing.
The differences that matter
Free plans: Claude Free includes chat on web, desktop and mobile, web search, file creation and code execution, memory, connectors, Artifacts and up to five projects, with the Sonnet and Haiku models. Gemini Free uses Flash-Lite and includes image generation and editing, Deep Research, Gemini Live, Canvas and Gems.
Models: Claude Pro adds Opus and more Claude models; Anthropic lists a context window of up to 1M tokens on all individual plans, depending on the model. Gemini 4 Argon and Google's Pro model start with Google AI Pro.
Work features: Claude Pro adds Claude Code, Research, Claude in Chrome and Claude for Microsoft 365, plus task hand-off and scheduling. Google AI Pro adds Gemini in Gmail and Docs, Chrome auto browse and the Jules coding agent.
Limits: Claude's limits reset in five-hour sessions, with weekly limits on paid plans, and Pro gives at least 5x the Free usage per session. Gemini's limits also refresh every five hours up to a weekly cap, at 2x Free on Plus and 4x on Pro.
Cost and constraints
Claude (US prices): Free; Pro at $20 per month, or $17 per month billed annually ($200 up front); Max from $100 per month for 5x or 20x the Pro usage, billed monthly. Prices exclude tax.
