What happened

Kling AI has released Kling 4.0, a new version of its video generation model. According to Kling's release note, it became available to everyone on October 15, 2026. Alongside it, Kling launched Kling 4.0 Flash, a faster model for frequent creation, and a redesigned creation page that combines image, video and audio references in one input box.

Kling 4.0 is also available through Kling's MCP server and CLI, including Omni Reference and keyframe-based generation, so agents can automate batches of videos.

What changed

Kling lists text-to-video, image-to-video, first and last frames and multi-keyframe input with up to 10 keyframe images. Videos run from 3 to 30 seconds at 720p, 1080p or 4K, in aspect ratios from 21:9 to 9:16, with two-channel stereo audio. Prompts can be up to 8,000 tokens, and generated speech and on-screen text cover languages including English, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Spanish, Portuguese, German, French and Hindi.

Omni Reference accepts up to 15 assets in one generation: up to 10 images, up to 5 videos with a combined 30 seconds, and up to 7 elements, of which at most 3 are video-based. Video editing takes up to 5 clips totalling 30 seconds. Kling 4.0 Flash supports text-to-video, image-to-video from a first frame and Omni Reference, with 3 to 20 second clips at 720p in 8-bit SDR.

Access and limitations

Two announced features are not live yet: Kling says 10-bit HDR output at 1080p and 4K is coming soon, and so is extending a video several times up to 2 minutes. Quality claims such as more stable motion and more accurate lip sync come from Kling and have not been independently tested by AppFor.ai.

The release note does not state prices or which plans include Kling 4.0, and we could not read current plan prices on Kling's public pages at our October 25, 2026 check. See our Kling AI profile for what the tool does and how to start.
